'At a well' typeset in outer margin, brc. Figures around a well. Charcoal drawing overprinted in a pale beige colour which extends beyond the drawn line around picture to form a border varying from 2-5mm; remainder of page bled off in pale lemon.
p 230 [tr ed p 249] - 'At the height of noon we reached the well of our desire. It was about thirty feet deep, stone-steyned, seemingly ancient. The water was abundant, slightly brackish, but not ill-tasting when drunk fresh: though it soon grew foul in a skin.'
