Decorative and portrait painter
Gill studied at the Slade School, and was awarded a Rome Scholarship in Decorative Painting in 1913. After serving in France as a Captain in the Royal Garrison Artillery, he was appointed an official war artist from 1919-20, and later joined the staff of the Royal College of Art. Gill contributed the chalk study of Bartholomew.
